Collection of Full Alimony Payment

A hybrid meeting was held at the end of the Business Meeting on March 21, for club members to discuss on our recommendations on issue of Effective Collection of Full Maintenance Payment.

Subsequently, LegCo Councillors Doreen Kong, Ambrose Lam, and Connie Lam, scheduled a hybrid ‘多方論壇 on 5 May at LegCo Building with Winnie, Ada & Cecilia as representatives from ZC Kowloon.

The recommendations from ZC Kowloon delivered at this meeting includes: The setting up of a ‘maintenance board’ or ‘centre’ with greater power to collect payments; a ‘single parent’ subsidy to be

set up with easy approval procedures; Judiciary in Hong Kong to review the procedures for issuance

of Maintenance Order, Judgement Summons, a larger pool of ‘pro-bono solicitors & barristers

offering free or low-cost service to be established.

We are honoured that on 4 September a meeting with Alice Mak, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs was organized, where we presented the consolidated report to her. Miss Mak is interested in suggestions of short-term executive actions that can address this issue. A 關注追討贍養費小組 is then formed to do further work.
